Urine copper

Adults contain about 100-200 mg of copper, which are widely distributed in various organs. Among them, the liver content is the highest, accounting for about 20% of the total body, followed by the brain and kidneys. Plasma copper is 95% bound to & alpha; 2 globulin and is blue. Each molecule of plasma ceruloplasmin binds to eight copper atoms, and the binding is relatively strong. The copper content of plasma ceruloplasmin accounts for about 3% of the total body copper content. Other copper in the plasma was loosely bound to plasma albumin, and only a few were free. Copper in the body mainly functions as a cofactor for a variety of enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase and cytochrome oxidase. Adults consume about 2 to 2.5 mg of copper from food daily, and about half of it is absorbed to maintain copper loss in the body. The main route of copper excretion in the body is the bile duct, which is rarely excreted in the urine. Cu: Atomic weight 63.54.
