Renin activity
Renin is produced, stored, and secreted by cells near the glomerulus. It is a hydrolytic protease that can convert angiotensinogen to angiotensin I, and then form angiotensin II through the action of converting enzymes. The renin-angiotensin system plays an important role in regulating blood pressure, water and electrolyte balance in the body.
