Liver tenderness

Hepatic tenderness test is an auxiliary test method used to check whether the liver pulse of the abdomen is normal. The normal liver has no tenderness. If the liver capsule has an inflammatory reaction or is stretched due to hepatomegaly, the liver has tenderness. Mild diffuse tenderness is seen in hepatitis and hepatic congestion. Local severe tenderness is seen in the superficial liver abscess (Often at the right intercostal space). There is no pain when palpating the normal abdomen, and there can be a sense of oppression when repressed. When palpation, pressing from shallow to deep, pain occurs, which is called tenderness.
