Luteinizing hormone
Luteinizing hormone is produced by the pituitary gland. Female luteinizing hormone participates in the ovulation of follicle-stimulating hormone, promotes the formation and secretion of estrogen and progesterone; in males, luteinizing hormone promotes testicular synthesis and secretes androgens. Determining the content of luteinizing hormone in serum is helpful to judge the function status of hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis and predict ovulation time.
