Serum lactate dehydrogenase
Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH or LD) is one of the important enzyme systems for anaerobic glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. It can catalyze the reduction and oxidation reaction between pyruvate and L-lactic acid, and also the related & alpha;- Keto acid. LDH is widely present in human tissues, with the highest contents of heart, kidney, and skeletal muscle, followed by liver, spleen, pancreas and lung tissue. LDH measurement methods mainly include colorimetry and continuous monitoring.
