Thyroid imaging

Static thyroid imaging uses the ability of the thyroid tissue to take up and concentrate 131I or 99mTc-perrhenate. After the thyroid has taken radioactive iodine or thorium from the blood circulation, the distribution of imaging agents in the thyroid is displayed in vitro by imaging equipment, which is used to observe the position, shape, size, and functional status of the thyroid.
