Urinary bilirubin

Bilirubin is produced metabolically after the destruction of red blood cells. It can be divided into unconjugated bilirubin without liver treatment and bound bilirubin formed by combining liver with glucuronic acid. Unbound bilirubin is insoluble in water and cannot bind to proteins in the blood through the glomerular filter. Combined with a small molecular weight and high solubility, bilirubin can be excreted from the urine through the glomerular filter.
