Ophthalmoscope

Ophthalmoscopes allow doctors to see the blood vessels on the retina behind the eyeball and the optic nerve (transmitting information between the eye and the brain). This is the only place in the human body where blood vessels and nerves can be seen without incision. A vitreous and fundus examination is performed with the aid of an ophthalmoscope to detect eye diseases that affect vision. Patients with hypertension and diabetes must perform this test regularly.
