Leukopenia and agranulocytosis in the elderly
Peripheral blood leukocytes below 4 * 109 / L are called leukopenia. The absolute value of granulocytes is continuously lower than 2 * 109 / L, which is called agranulocytosis, such as extreme deficiency, and agranulocytosis is lower than 1 * 109 / L, which is often accompanied by severe infection. The etiology and pathogenesis of leukocytopenia and agranulocytosis are, in most cases, the same, with only varying degrees of reduction.
