Newborn Wilson-Mikity Syndrome

The syndrome mainly occurs in preterm infants with a gestational age of 32 weeks and a birth weight of 1500 g. It usually develops on or after the weekend after birth. It is caused by immature lungs. Some alveoli collapse due to poor inflation and some alveoli appear to be hyperventilated. Cystic emphysema. It is characterized by progressive, intermittent or recurrent dyspnea accompanied by cyanosis.
