Pediatric multiple sclerosis

Pediatric multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune demyelinating disease involving the white matter of the central nervous system. It is characterized by spreading and multiple lesions, often with remission and recurrence. Onset is often in early adulthood, but in recent years more cases have been reported in children. Due to the presence of multifocal demyelinating plaques in the brain and spinal cord, clinical dysfunction often occurs in multiple parts of the nervous system.
