Nutcracker esophagus
Nutcracker esophagus (NE) is the most common esophageal pressure disorder in non-cardiac chest pain. The esophagus's severe peristaltic contraction in the lower part of the esophagus and / or prolonged contraction time cause Angina pectoris-like chest pain is characteristic. Also called hypertensive peristalsis of esophagus, hypersqueezer esophagus and high amplitude peristaltic esophagus. In 1977, Brand and others first reported that 41% of patients with noncardiac chest pain had high amplitude esophageal peristaltic contraction. In 1979, Benjami et al. First used the term "nutcracker esophagus" to describe patients with noncardiac chest pain whose esophageal systolic pressure exceeded 400 mmHg.
