Neonatal hyponatremia
Neonatal hyponatremia refers to serum sodium below 130 mmol / L in the neonatal period, which can occur in preterm and term infants, but it is more common in preterm infants. Hyponatremia can be divided into: ① sodium deficiency hyponatremia; ② dilute hyponatremia; ③ wasting hyponatremia. It is a clinical syndrome caused by sodium deficiency and / or water retention due to various reasons. Total body fluids and body sodium can decrease, normal, or increase. Normal serum sodium is mainly regulated by the kidneys under the action of antidiuretic hormones and aldosterone. Newborn kidneys have poor regulatory functions and are prone to sodium metabolism disorders.
