Pediatric hepatic encephalopathy
Hepatic encephalopathy (HE), also known as hepatic coma or hepatic-brain syndrome, is caused by severe acute and chronic liver diseases. It is based on metabolic disorders and is accompanied by complex neuropsychiatric symptoms Symptoms, the main clinical manifestations are disturbance of consciousness, behavioral disorders and coma. Its occurrence and development often signify liver failure and a high mortality rate. Hepatic encephalopathy includes precursors of hepatic coma, hepatic coma, and chronic intermittent hepatic encephalopathy. Acute and chronic liver diseases of various causes can be associated with hepatic encephalopathy.
