Optic discitis

Optic discitis (papillitis) is an acute inflammation of the optic nerve immediately adjacent to the eyeball segment. It has a rapid onset, severe visual impairment, and affects both eyes. It is easily confused with optic disc edema. Occurred in children or young adults, more common in both eyes, the prognosis is better.
