Pediatric sugar malabsorption

Glucose malabsorption is mainly due to the lack of specific disaccharide enzymes in the small intestinal mucosa. Disaccharides in food cannot be fully hydrolyzed to monosaccharides to affect their absorption. Occasionally, monosaccharide absorption disorders occur. Except for the lack of amylase in newborns, this condition does not occur in adults and does not cause clinical problems.
