Internal bladder hernia
The bladder is an extraperitoneal organ that is adjacent to the anterior and pubic bones. The retropubic space is also called the anterior bladder space, which is filled with loose connective tissue and genital vein plexus. Behind the bladder, men are adjacent to the rectum, and women are adjacent to the anterior wall of the uterus and vagina. The men have seminal vesicles, ampulla and other tissues. The bladder covers the peritoneum and is adjacent to the intestine. If the bowel crests and peritoneum protrude into the posterior pubic space and the posterior bladder space, it is called the superior bladder hernia. Internal hernias that occur in the posterior pubic space are also referred to as anterior superior bladder internal hernias.
