Perchlorate release test
The perchlorate release test is that under normal circumstances, iodine is taken up from the blood by the thyroid in the form of ions, and quickly enters the thyroid and becomes organic. First, it is oxidized into iodine molecules under the action of peroxidase. The iodine molecules are further combined with tyrosine to form organic iodine under the action of iodinase. Therefore, in normal thyroid tissue, there is very little iodine in the form of ions. When peroxidase is deficient or dysfunctional, the iodine ions entering the thyroid can not be oxidized, and a large amount of ion iodine exists in the thyroid. Perchlorate prevents the thyroid from taking up iodine and promotes the release of iodide from the thyroid. After taking perchlorate, large amounts of iodine ions are released from the thyroid into the blood.
