Membranous conjunctivitis

Membranous conjunctivitis, also known as diphtheritic conjunctivitis, is an acute purulent conjunctivitis caused by diphtheria. It is characterized by a layer of gray-white membrane-like exudate on the surface of the eyelid conjunctiva, which is often accompanied by diphtheria, fever, and other systemic poisoning symptoms in the nasopharynx. Due to the widespread vaccination of diphtheria vaccine, this disease is extremely rare in China.
