Giant cell arteritis

Giant cell arteritis, referred to as GCA, is a widespread vascular disease. It used to be called cranial arteritis, temporal arteritis, and granulomatous arteritis. Later, it was recognized that any large artery in the body can be affected during this disease. Therefore, it is named giant cell arteritis according to its pathological characteristics. A special type of granulomatous arteritis. Clinical manifestations are mostly caused by vascular occlusive changes.
