Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis

Primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) is a central nervous system infection caused by Naegleria fowleri. It has rapid clinical onset, rapid development, and poor prognosis . The disease was first reported by Australian Fowler and Garter in 1965. Butt reported another case in the United States the following year and officially named it. So far, more than 200 PAM cases have been reported in the world. Although the number of cases is small, they are distributed all over the world. Cases of PAM have also been reported in Beijing and other places in China.
