Hyperthyroidism in the elderly
Hyperthyroidism (hyperthyroidism), short for hyperthyroidism, is a group of common endocrine diseases caused by an increase in thyroid synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. The prevalence of hyperthyroidism in the elderly is about 0.4% to 2.3%, accounting for about 10% to 15% of all patients with hyperthyroidism, and women are higher than men. Elderly hyperthyroidism is significantly different from other age groups in many aspects such as the etiology distribution and clinical manifestations.
