Pediatric hyperaldosteronism

Primary hyperaldosteronism (primary hyperaldosteronism) is due to an increase in aldosterone produced by the adrenal cortex spheroids, causing sodium retention, increased blood volume and suppression of plasma renin activity, clinical symptoms such as hypertension and hypokalemia. Can be caused by adrenal spheroidal cell proliferation or tumors, children with hyperplasia are more common, often bilateral, tumors are mostly adenomas, and the left is more common. Those with no abnormality in the adrenal glands are called idiopathic hyperaldosteronism.
