Stargardt disease
Stargardt's disease refers to macular atrophic lesions with yellow spots on the retina. The disease has two special symptoms: the oval-shaped atrophy of the macula and the yellow spots on its surrounding retina. Stargardt's disease mostly begins in the permanent tooth growth stage. It is an autosomal recessive disease that is primary in the retinal pigment epithelium. Sporadic cases are not uncommon. They occur more frequently in the eyes of children with close relatives who marry and develop simultaneously. There is no significant difference in gender.
