Nontuberculous mycobacterium
Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) disease refers to lung and extrapulmonary diseases caused by mycobacterial infections other than human, bovine tuberculosis, and leprosy. With the prevalence of HIV infection and AIDS, Mycobacterium tuberculosis has also increased. Histopathological manifestations are similar to tuberculosis, ie, exudative, proliferative, and sclerotic lesions.
