Pick disease
Pickrsquo; s disease is a rare, slowly progressing cognitive and behavioral disorder. Pick (1892) first described a group of patients with frontotemporal atrophy as a pathological feature, showing behavioral abnormalities, aphasia, and cognitive impairment. The first 71-year-old man he reported presented with progressive mental decline and extremely severe aphasia, and an autopsy revealed extremely severe left temporal polar cortex atrophy; four subsequent reports specifically emphasized the patient's progressive language impairment.
