Pericarditis

There are two layers of pericardium outside the heart: the visceral layer and the parietal layer. If they undergo inflammatory changes, they are pericarditis, which can cause the heart to compress and relax. Pericarditis can be divided into two categories, acute and chronic. The more severe type of chronic pericarditis is constrictive pericarditis.
