Painless thyroiditis
Painless thyroiditis (PT), also known as silent thyroiditis (ST), is a special type of thyroiditis. Since 1971, Hamburger first described a case called "potential subacute thyroiditis", more and more scholars have reported such cases one after another, and acknowledged that this is an independent disease. ST has the common characteristics of subacute thyroiditis and chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, but they are not the same. In recent years, it has been classified as subacute thyroiditis, called subacute lymphocytic thyroiditis, to distinguish subacute granulomatous thyroiditis (commonly called subacute thyroiditis). In addition, the disease still has the names of subacute non-purulent thyroiditis and postpartum painless thyroiditis.
