Pleural effusion and pleurisy in the elderly

Pleural fluid (pleural effusison) refers to the imbalance between the production and absorption of pleural fluid, the amount of which exceeds the amount of absorption causes the pleural fluid to exceed normal. Its generation can be a passive leakage or an active leakage process. Elderly pleural effusion is a very common clinical syndrome. It can be caused by pleural lesions or by systemic diseases. It often coexists in other diseases, and the onset is often relatively insidious. The symptoms are atypical and it is easy to delay diagnosis and treatment. For elderly patients with pleural effusion, it is important to exclude effusion and relieve lung compression, but active etiology and primary disease treatment are more important. Pleurisy (pleurisy) is inflammation of the pleura caused by various reasons, and it is one of the main causes of pleural effusion.
