Sternal osteomyelitis

The incidence of sternal osteomyelitis is low, especially blood-derived osteomyelitis, which is a very difficult disease in the field of orthopedics. It is common in postoperative infections of the sternum, the elderly and patients with systemic diseases with diabetes. The clinical manifestations are multiple sinus tracts, with severe symptoms of infection and poisoning. Thorough debridement, smooth drainage, and establishment of a local blood supply are the keys to successful treatment.
