Duodenal carcinoid
Carcinoids are low-grade tumors of the digestive tract, accounting for only 0.4% to 1.8% of gastrointestinal tumors. Duodenal carcinoids originate from intestinal kultschitzsky cells (intestinal pheochromoblasts) and can produce a variety of amine hormone peptides, belonging to the category of neuroendocrine tumors. Tumors are usually small, single or multiple. With tumor growth, the characteristics of malignant tumor infiltration and growth can appear. The incidence of duodenal carcinoids is even lower, accounting for only 1.3% of total gastrointestinal carcinoids and 5% of small bowel carcinoids. Duodenum is more common in paragraph 2, followed by paragraph 1.
