Crush syndrome

After trauma, blood and tissue proteins are destroyed and toxic intermediate metabolites are absorbed into the blood, resulting in acute tubular necrosis after trauma and acute renal failure caused by it. This is a common cause of late-onset deaths in patients with extensive soft tissue contusion.
