Peritoneal mesothelioma
Peritoneal mesothelioma, also known as primary peritoneal mesothelioma, is a tumor that originates in the peritoneal epithelium and mesothelial tissue. This disease is less common than pleural mesothelioma, and is slightly higher in men than women. Benign mesothelioma is usually solitary, mostly located in the fallopian tubes and the peritoneum at the top of the uterus, and rare in other parts. Malignant mesothelioma is often diffuse, covering all or part of the peritoneum. Because the clinical manifestations of peritoneal mesothelioma are not specific, it is difficult to distinguish them from diseases such as tuberculous peritonitis and metastatic tumors in the abdominal cavity. Therefore, the correct diagnosis and treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma is of great significance.
