Slip-off rib syndrome

First described by Danse-colley in 1992, clinically not uncommon, but easily overlooked. There are also named spontaneous ribs, snapping ribs, intercostal syndrome, traumatic intercostal neuritis, etc. Many cases of unnecessary laparotomy due to misdiagnosis of visceral diseases have been reported in the literature.
