Temporal and mandibular joint abnormalities
Temporal and mandibular joints are abbreviated as TMD. TM refers to the joint where the temporal and mandibular bones join. Put your hand in front of your ears and feel it with your mouth closed. This hinge-like structure allows your mouth to move freely up, down, left and right. This joint is used when chewing, swallowing, talking, yelling, clenching or grinding teeth.
