Traumatic esophageal perforation

Perforation of esophagus is one of the most serious gastrointestinal emergencies, with a reported fatality rate of 10% to 46%. The prognosis depends on the cause of the disease, the location of the injury, the underlying lesion of the esophagus, and the time to start treatment after the injury.
