Oral herpes simplex
Herpes simplex is a skin and mucosal disease caused by the herpes simplex virus. Herpes stomatitis is more common in infants and young children. After high fever and sore throat, clusters of small blisters or ulcers on the oral mucosa or large ulcers formed after fusion can self-heal in about 7 to 14 days. Cold sores are more common in adults. When the disease occurs, blister fluid can be taken for virus inoculation, or vesicular basal smears, or an increase in the titer of blood anti-herpes simplex virus antibodies can confirm the diagnosis.
