Gas gangrene
Air gangrene is a severe acute specific infection caused by Clostridium bacillus, which is represented by Percobacterium perfringens. It is more common after severe trauma in muscle-rich areas, and often begins with severe swelling and pain in the wound, followed by large necrosis of the skin and muscles, swelling of the affected area due to tissue edema and gas accumulation, malodorous secretions, and severe toxemia. Bacillus infections are divided into two categories: bacillus myonecrosis and bacillus cellulitis, commonly known as gas gangrene or bacillus myonecrosis, which mainly occurs in patients with extensive muscle tissue damage. A few occur in wounds after abdominal or perineal surgery.
