Convulsions in children
Pediatric convulsions refer to systemic or local muscle groups that have ankylosing and clonic convulsions due to neurological dysfunction, often accompanied by disturbance of consciousness. Convulsions are a common emergency in children, especially in infants and young children. The incidence is very high, about 5 to 6% of children have had one or more seizures. Frequent seizures or persistence of convulsions can be life-threatening or can leave children with severe sequelae, affecting children's intellectual development and health. The incidence of convulsions in children is 10 times that of adults, especially in infants and young children.
