Pituitary tumor

Pituitary tumors are a group of tumors that develop from residual cells in the anterior and posterior pituitary and craniopharyngeal epithelium. Pituitary tumors account for about 10% of intracranial tumors. This group of tumors has the majority of adenomas in the former lobe, and rare from the posterior lobe. A variety of intracranial metastatic cancers can affect the pituitary gland and must be distinguished from primary pituitary tumors.
