Generalized edema in pregnant women

Generalized edema in pregnant women usually occurs after 24 weeks of pregnancy. It is a type of systemic edema. Its characteristics are: severe edema, and systemic with hypertension and proteinuria. In systemic edema, fluid is diffusely distributed in interstitial spaces of the body. Indentational edema occurs when there is considerable fluid.
