Water and sodium retention obesity

Obesity is generally divided into primary and secondary types according to the cause. Primary obesity includes simple obesity and water and sodium retention obesity. Water and sodium retention obesity, also known as idiopathic edema. This type of obesity is more common in reproductive and menopausal women. Its occurrence may be related to factors such as increased capillary permeability caused by increased estrogen, increased aldosterone secretion, and slowed venous return. Fat is unevenly distributed, mainly in the calf, thigh, buttocks, abdomen, and breasts. Rapid weight gain, closely related to body position, tiredness and standing weight gain, reduced after rest and supine. Morning and evening weight change is normal for 0.4 kg, and the patient's morning and evening weight change is more than 1 kg. The edema of the disease is often cyclical, with edema on the face and eyelids in the morning, movements after getting up, lower limbs and trunk gradually edema, and the weight before dinner is increased by 1.2 to 4.5 kg compared with breakfast, with an average of 2.4 ± 0.7 kg. The standing water test showed that the patient had water and sodium retention.
