Thoracic outlet syndrome
The space between the clavicle and the first rib is called the thorax outlet. When nerves or blood vessels are compressed at this outlet, a series of clinical symptoms such as neck and shoulder pain and numbness of the fingertips may occur, which is called thorax outlet syndrome. There are several subtypes of thoracic outlet syndrome based on the cause, but it is sometimes difficult for clinicians to determine the exact cause of thoracic outlet syndrome. Treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome includes physical therapy, medication and surgery.
