Disappearance of sucking reflex
When the lips of the newborn touch the nipples, they open their mouths and the sucking action of lips and tongue is called sucking reflex. The reflection disappeared after 1 year of age. If the sucking reflex disappears or is significantly weakened during the neonatal period, it is suggestive of brain lesions. If hyperactive, it is a sign of hunger. Cortical dysfunction persists after 1 year of age.
