Large root artery ischemia syndrome supplying blood to thoracolumbar spinal cord
This group of root arteries mostly comes from the intercostal artery, or from the upper lumbar artery and / or external iliac artery. After entering the spinal canal along the intercostal or lumbar spinal nerve, they participate in the anterior central spinal artery that forms the middle and lower spinal cord. The upper thoracic segment reaches the 6th thoracic spinal cord, and the lower part reaches the iliac crest 4; the lumbar segment is the thoracic 12 to crest 5, which mainly supplies 2/3 of the blood flow in front of the spinal cord.
