Chronic pulmonary heart disease

Chronic pulmonary heart disease (chronic cor pulmonale) is caused by chronic lesions in the lung tissue, pulmonary arteries, or thorax, resulting in abnormal lung tissue structure and function, resulting in increased pulmonary vascular resistance, increased pulmonary artery pressure, and dilated and enlarged right heart, accompanied by Heart disease without right heart failure. It can occur in the elderly, but most of it develops from the middle age. Pulmonary heart disease in the elderly mostly develops from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Its incidence is high, especially among smokers, and it is increasing year by year.
