Postherpetic neuralgia
Postherpetic neuralgia is a neuropathic pain syndrome that appears after infection with acute shingles. Most patients with shingles can recover after treatment, but some patients experience pain in the damaged skin area after the herpes heals for more than 3 months, which is called postherpetic neuralgia.
