Carcinoid face red Because carcinoid tissue can produce media such as serotonin and kinin, it can often cause flushing of the skin of the face, neck, arms, trunk and calf. Emotional changes, overeating, drinking and diarrhea can often be induced. Long-term seizures can cause skin small blood vessels to dilate, localized tissue thickening, and persistent erythema or bruising, and even necrosis and scarring in the center of the erythema. This type can be accompanied by symptoms of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, heart, and nervous system. Together with skin symptoms, it is called carcinoid syndrome.
