Intercostal tenderness
Tenderness in the intercostal space is a clinical manifestation of intercostal neuralgia. Physical examination of patients with intercostal neuralgia reveals obvious tenderness near the spinous process of the thoracic spine and intercostal space; typical patients with root intercostal neuralgia have a positive neck flexion test; the distribution area of the affected nerve often has symptoms of neurological impairment such as hypersensitivity or hypoesthesia .
