Portal vein gas
Portal venous gas (PVG) refers to imaging signs formed by abnormal accumulation of gas in the portal vein and its branch of the intrahepatic portal vein due to various reasons. It is usually diagnosed by abdominal X-rays. Common in neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis. Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis is a serious disease with abdominal distension, vomiting, and blood in the stool as the main clinical manifestations. Ninety percent of the cases occur in preterm infants, and the mortality associated with intestinal wall gas and portal vein gas is as high as 86%.
